SaltWorks, one of the largest purveyors of premium sea salt, needed new branding and packaging for its specialty line of hand-crafted salts. Working with direction from the founder, our team at The Garrigan Lyman Group developed multiple brand directions to raise the status of the product line. My proposed direction, based on premium liquor seals and intricate cigar label art was chosen, and I was off to create the brand mark and develop a holistic identity. I was able to unite with an illustrator friend who helped craft a custom system of filligree-inspired backgrounds which referenced the mountains and seas—sources for the global varieties of salt.
For the packaging, I lead the team in developing a color system for the 40 varieties, and flexed the designs to work across multiple containers. We added premium touches by embossing the tamper seals and printing on foil paper to set off the custom walnut lids. Response from the client and his customers was overwhelming, with the new packaged product selling out its initial run.
I developed the new brand mark as part of the packaging, and worked with an illustrator to create the custom background image.
